Beckman CubeSat

Now the Chassis of the CubeSat is vital for the the entire launch. The structure has to be both durable and light. The structure is either formed by the connection of several parts of by carving a monoblock from a solid block of metal. Now the material is important for the launch of the CubeSat. The material must fall under Nasa's out-gassing requirements in order to prevent structure malfunction (http://outgassing.nasa.gov/). Many different schools are considering 3d printing the chassis of the CubeSat for it is not only cheaper but easy to obtain specific parts. Beckman CubeSat has 3d printed a chassis, courtesy of Brown University, and are currently in research regarding the type of material that can be used in orbit. To keep the chassis under strict specifications along with the cost and material will definitely prove to be a challenge.
